Imports and Exports
Brazil is South America’s number one export
country, making nearly half of South America’s exports. Some of Brazil’s top
exports include poultry, sugar, crude oil, and soya beans. Brazil imports
machinery, electrical and transportation equipment, oils, and technology. The
remaining four top export countries are Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia.
Both the United States and China are where the majority of their products are shipped out
to (Top South American Export Countries, 2017).
Top Import and Export Countries in South America
- Chile: Imports- Motor vehicles, petroleum, grapes, gold, and fuel wood. Exports- Copper, wine, wood, fruit, gems, poultry, and fish.
- Argentina: Imports- Machinery, motor vehicles, chemicals, metals, plastics, and other manufactured goods. Exports- Wheat, corn, flax, beef, oats, hides, mutton, and wool.
- Peru: Imports- Petroleum, plastics, machinery, vehicles, iron, steel, wheat, and paper. Exports- Copper, gold, zinc, coffee, potatoes, asparagus, textiles, and guinea pigs.
- Colombia: Imports- Consumer goods, paper products, fuels, and electricity. Exports- Coffee, oil, petroleum, coal, nickel, apparel, banana, and cut flowers.
